CIA Veteran: Likely That War Against Daesh Will Be Endless

There may be no end to the war against terrorism that the US is leading, according to former CIA employee Paul R.Pillar. And one of the main reasons would be a misinterpretation of the notion of “terrorism”.

People these days have an erroneous definition of terrorism, and that leads to destructive political decisions, Pillar wrote in his piece for National Interest.

First of all, the public doesn't realize that terrorism is rather a tactical technique than a certain number of people. Terrorists are taken for a group of "bad guys", and this implies that once they are destroyed, the problem is solved.

Another problem is that there's a tendency to associate terrorism with a certain organization like Al-Qaeda or Daesh. As soon as we hear these names, the image of a branching international organization emerges in our heads.

This way of thinking can be observed is US policy, Pillar noted. The politicians keep expanding anti-terror operations against self-proclaimed members of Daesh in Libya or Afghanistan. But in fact Daesh is just the most popular brand in the radical Sunni world, and it is being actively used by whoever participates in the power game.

"Where does such expansion stop?" the expert wonders.

Today it is Libya and Afghanistan, tomorrow the attention may be shifted to Somalia or Cote D'Ivoire or any other part of the world, if we hear of Daesh activity there.

Meanwhile, the militants in Afghanistan, for instance, calling themselves Daesh members, are in fact Taliban fringe group entangled in the race for power.

The current strategy will hardly lead to substantive results, the former CIA contractor gloomily predicted. By eliminating a few more "terrorists", America will only spend a significant amount of its resources, and collateral damage will trigger anti-US sentiment and upsurge in violence. As a result, the endeavor to establish peace in a certain part of the world will be counterproductive, like it has already happened in Libya.

The aspiration to fight terrorism without taking into account its core will only lead to eternal war with Daesh and similar organizations, Pillar concluded.

The US declared the global War on Terror in 2001, driven by the attacks on September 11, and launched operation "Enduring Freedom" which continued until December 2014.

The US-led coalition of over 60 nations has been carrying out airstrikes against Daesh in Iraq since August 2014 and in Syria since September 2014

Are the creations from America getting out of hand? After all they created / supported them in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen and Syria and heaven knows where else the American CIA and NGO's have run amok

Most Terrorists are little more that vicious local War Lords who do the bidding of their masters who give them money and weapons. In the case of DAESH the money is Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and of course the good ole USA with a bit of support from NATO.

Take a look at the regime change in Guatamala in 1953 and you will see that the CIA is still reading the same terrorism play book.

The list is too long to name them all but my favourite one is Operation AJAX in Iran 1953 that is biting the ZionNazies in their butt and a big part of the present problems in the Middle East. But let's not forget the British who did there share of terrorism in the Middle East.

Pillar. lol Not surprised. Some of these retired guys aren't so retired. The fight is only endless for people who profit from it.

I remember when coyote hunters were trying to tell state governments that coyote populations couldn't be controlled. Rubbish.

IF you want to fond earlier text book of " MODUS OPERANDI, " for U.S, you MUST go earlier to the U.S revolution.
But another era, that now is declassified, was in central America. Check how PANAMA came to be. Because they didn't wanted it to be part of a more well established order.
Result? Terrorists were used. Panama was born and had PUPPETS. The latest blow in Panama was about the CANAL. Noriega spent jail, because they didn't wanted HIM to be in charge of the canal transfer.

About Taliban and others calling themselves DAESH, is for a reason. MANPOWER.

By allying themselves with the Caliphate, they get Saudi, Qatar, Turkey NATO, And teh 4 powers support.. ( U.K, U.S Germany , France).
NATO, U.N, U.S, or none of them, are claiming human rights abuses on Turkey. Supported and became cheerleaders when Turkey downed a Russian jet. And hid that there were 2 SU jets, not one, For propaganda. To claim superiority.
In reality, there were 2. One with systems on neutral. The other was lit up. The second, saw the F 16's, saw the missiles and avoid been hit. What prompted Washington to pay for a new missile system. And NATO, U.S planes left Turkey after. They were there to attack Russia IF Russia defended herself.
Same goes soon, to next country they want. It's an ancient game really. Not new. U.K was MASTER using it to take over nations. Ask China historians about the OPIUM WARS. U.K was at the vanguard. The QUEEN was behind it all.
Nothing has changed , except for a few names.

He's young and naive... America is hyping the terrorist threat and actively sponsoring the terrorists to maintain world supremacy... including over Russia.

It also has other instruments: trade, finance, and last but not least its weird understanding of democracy, witness the treatment of blacks in America, at least until the refugee crisis, blacks had a comparatively much simpler time in Europe... I don't want to say that it wasn't a rough ride as well.

Wars are as endless as the drug addiction and no wonder that there must be some operation in Afghanistan to secure further supplies. And the American citizens do not bother about the cocain addicts taking care of the nukes over there. Norway has quite some acceptance of addicts and NATO's secretary Jens Stoltenberg's sister was one of them and spoke about it quite publicly. So with acceptance of addiction it must be imported to Norway from somewhere. So with disregard to international laws and regulations like NATO bombings of Lybia, why bother about addiction although it is illegal.

siberianhusky, I just read about this in a book "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" by John Perkins.

    • I think he's got a point... You have to stop the real center. Kill the root so the tree will die. A color revolution overthrowing a certain wahabi monarchy is a good start, imo. liquidating your Killary Clintons and your Samantha powers, Nulands, Kerry's, Mccains, etc is a good follow-up.. Then there's some of those REALLY nasty reptillian monsters in Israhell, as well. Once you remove all the reptiles and let the sun in these countries a bit I think that will solve a lot of the 'terrorist' problem
