US law enforcement officers shot to death a robbery suspect for pointing his finger at police officers, local officials said.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Thursday, police in Florence, California responded to a call of an armed burglary and soon found a suspect matching the description.

"He took a shooting stance, something that you would see in a training film, where you place your hands outside in front of you and bring your two index fingers together, and that's when the deputies fired," Lt. Eddie Hernandez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said, as quoted by the ABC News broadcaster.

The man was dead at the scene and no weapon was found, according to Hernandez.

The police have closed the street for further investigation, the broadcaster said.
