Acting Undersecretary of Defense Brad Carson, who led the Force of the Future reform of Department of Defense's personnel, has filed to resign from his position, according to an email sent to his staff.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Carson is expected to leave the post on April 8. He is reportedly resigning along with his senior adviser Morgan Plummer.

"I have determined it is better for me and my family to depart from public life and try to quickly provide some stability to P&R's [personnel and readiness] leadership for the duration of the administration," Carson was quoted as writing by Military Times.

Carson cited "low likelihood of confirmation" and "reduced time left in the administration" as reasons for his decision to resign.

The Force of the Future personnel reform includes such widely-debated decisions as opening combat positions to women.
