Trump Leads in Florida, Tied in Ohio With State’s Governor

US Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is leading rival candidate and Florida Senator Marco Rubio in his home state and is tied in Ohio with the state’s Governor John Kasich, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released on Monday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) In Florida, 46 percent of Republicans favor the New York real estate tycoon, while 22 percent say they support their senator, followed by Texas Senator Ted Cruz with 14 percent of support and Kasich with 10 percent, the poll found.

Meanwhile in Ohio, Trump and Kasich are tied each at 38 percent of support from the state’s Republicans, followed by Cruz with 16 percent of support and Rubio with only three percent.

On the Democratic side, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is leading her opponent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in both Florida and Ohio.

On Tuesday, voters from the US states of Missouri, Florida, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina will head to the polls to take part in their states’ primaries.
