MOSCOW (Sputnik) — CBS Los Angeles Broadcaster reported on Wednesday that Jamie Gilt, 31, told officers that "on her way to pick up a horse" she was shot by her son in the back after he got his hands on a.45 caliber handgun sitting in the backseat of her car.
The mother has been hospitalized, she is in stable condition.
Gilt runs Facebook page urging to protect and expand the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution. On Monday she boasted about her little son ability to use a gun.
The 2nd Amendment guarantees the right of US citizens to keep and bear arms. Gun violence and tougher gun controls remain in the spotlight of the political debate in the country. More than 50 percent of US citizens think the country should tighten its gun control laws, according to a recent poll by Gallup.
