WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States does not have the leaked documents related to Islamic State (Daesh), US State Department Deputy spokesperson Mark Toner stated in a press briefing on Thursday.
On Wednesday, reports emerged that thousands of documents identifying 22,000 IS supporters in more than 50 countries were leaked to Great Britain’s Sky News television channel. A former Free Syrian Army convert to IS, who called himself Abu Hamed, is said to have handed over the data on a memory stick.
"I don’t think we are in possession of them,” Toner said, adding that they have seen the reports but cannot confirm the authenticity of these documents.
