“Lifted by more than 1.4 million contributions averaging $30 a piece, Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign on Tuesday announced it raised more than $42 million in the month of February. The total is the most raised in a single month by any candidate running for president in 2016,” the statement said.
The Vermont senator’s campaign added that on Monday, “Sanders hauled in more than $6 million on the final day of the month alone, nearly matching the amount he raised in the 24 hours after a 22-point victory in the New Hampshire primary.”
Meanwhile, Democratic party frontrunner Clinton has raised some $188 million so far — twice as much as Sanders, according to the Federal Election Commission.
On Tuesday, voters from a dozen US states head to the polls on the biggest day of the presidential primaries. Despite Clinton’s 10 point lead in the latest Super Tuesday poll, Sanders’ Campaign Manager Jeff Weaver vowed that the Vermont senator’s supporters would help him win the nomination.
