WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton maintains a substantial lead in Florida ahead of the Democratic primary as she has gained support of the majority of female voters, according to a new poll released on Friday.
"A huge lead among women propels former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to a 59 — 33 percent lead over Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont among Florida likely Democratic primary voters," a Quinnipiac University poll found.
Quinnipiac University Poll assistant director Peter Brown predicted that Clinton’s victory in Florida is guaranteed.
"With her 26-point lead over Sen. Bernie Sanders, Secretary Hillary Clinton would have to undergo a political meltdown of historic proportions to lose this contest," he said.
The Florida Democratic primary is scheduled to take place on March 15.
