US Senator Ted Cruz won the Republican caucus in the state of Iowa with 27.6 percent of the votes, according to official results.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Senator Ted Cruz won the Republican caucus in the state of Iowa, coming ahead of businessman Donald Trump with 3.3 percent of the caucus vote, according to official results, released on Tuesday.

Cruz received 27.6 percent of the votes, while Trump gained 24.3 percent, the results showed. US Senator Marco Rubio finished third with 23.1 percent. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush gained 2.8 percent of the Republican caucus votes.
