MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Former US National Security Agency (NSA) contractor and whistleblower Edward Snowden on Tuesday questioned the integrity of six coin flips in the Iowa state Democratic caucus favoring Hillary Clinton.

In a tight race between Clinton and her rival Bernie Sanders, six Iowa precincts were too close to allocate delegates to either candidate, the Des Moines Register reported. Party officials recommended settling the dispute with a coin toss, all six of which favored Clinton.

“It turns out money decides elections after all,” Snowden tweeted with a screen grab of an Independent article citing the Des Moines Register.

Sanders has managed to maintain a close race with Clinton, a presumed front-runner, with a grassroots campaign that was said to galvanize the youth vote in the run-up to the Iowa caucus.

Clinton, former New York Senator and State Secretary, is seen as an establishment politician with corporate ties.
