One of the largest US airlines, the United Airlines, announced it had canceled all flights in the Washington area until Monday because of the heavy snow storm.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Heavy snow storm came to the US east coast on Friday afternoon, hitting the US capital, as well as the surrounding states of Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

"United will not operate Saturday and Sunday [Sunday and Monday in the Eastern Hemisphere] service at Dulles and other Washington metro area airports and expects to gradually resume service on Monday," " the airline said on Saturday in a statement on its website.

The airline plans to start "very limited" operations on Sunday afternoon at its Newark Liberty Airport hub and other New York City metro area airports, according to the statement.

According to media reports, some 7,600 flights have been canceled all across the United States. The blizzard has prompted governors of at least 11 US states to declare states of emergency.

Don't get rattled by the Americans; they are patriotic to a fault but they love their drama and a lot of it. Every little thing in Americans' minds has the potential to evolve exponentially -- it will transform or end the world -- as long as there is drama!

This "is the storm of the century"! Everything in America is bigger, larger, and better than in the rest of the world -- even their winter storms!
