Over 2,750 flights were canceled and some 4,500 were postponed due to severe snowstorms in the United States, local media reported.

The flight disruptions came as a major blizzard is making its way across the country. On Sunday, over 1,600 flights were canceled and 6,300 delayed.

In Chicago, more than 1,300 flights were canceled as of 8:40 p.m. local time Monday (01:40 GMT Tuesday), which is more than half of the airport’s daily schedule.

Since Saturday, a tornado warning has been declared in at least 10 US states. Some of the states have also issued a flash flooding warning. Severe weather in southern US states has killed at least 41 people, according to media reports.
