Obama Ready to Compromise on Budget Bill

US President Barack Obama considers the possibility of compromise on issue of bipartisan budget proposal to fund the US government, according to White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — President Barack Obama will agree to a compromise bipartisan budget proposal to fund the US government, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters on Friday.

"There will be some things in this bill that we don’t enthusiastically support," Earnest said. "But the President is not going to let a disagreement over one issue become a deal breaker over all the others."

On Thursday, the US Senate voted to approve a short-term spending bill, also known as a continuing resolution, to fund the operations of the US government until December 16 and prevent a government shutdown.

The original deadline for a government shutdown was on Friday. Thursday’s vote provided the Senate another week to debate and approve the $1.1 trillion spending bill, which would finance the US government through 2016.

"Anytime you have a bipartisan negotiation like this, an agreement is only produced when both sides compromise," Earnest noted.

The press secretary expressed hope that Congress is in final hours and days of negotiations.
