A $28,500 deposit was made to the account of one of the assailants of the San Bernardino shooting, just two weeks before the massacre took place, local media reported.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the Fox News television channel’s Monday report, it is not clear whether the sum was a loan Syed Farook had taken out and put into his account from WebBank.com on November 18.

Two days later, Farook converted $10,000 to cash, and withdrew the money at a Union Bank branch in San Bernardino, the media outlet reported. He then made at least three transfers of $5,000 to his mother in the days leading up to the shooting.

It is now being investigated whether Farook used the $10,000 he had withdrawn to pay for the weapons he used in the assault.

US Should 'Consider an Alliance with Russia' if It Wants to Defeat Daesh
Last week, a shooting at Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino claimed lives of 14 people and injured 21 others. Police identified the shooters as a US-born man of Pakistani origin Syed Farook and his Pakistani wife Tashfeen Malik.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said Friday it had found indications that the two perpetrators had been under the influence of radical ideas. Later media reports claimed that Farook and Malik had contacts with Islamist organizations, including the al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front and the Daesh, which is outlawed in many countries including Russia.

Later media reports claimed that the FBI had conducted a search of Farook’s friend who was suspected of purchasing the weapons used in the attack.
