WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States needs to spend more on infrastructure than the amount allocated in the Highway Bill that Congress passed on Thursday, US President Barack Obama said in a press release.
"Congress should pass a bill like the Grow America Act [that] invests even more in our roads and highways than the bill passed last night so we can meet our country’s infrastructure needs," Obama stated on Friday.
Obama said he applauded the bipartisan compromise that was required to pass the legislation, but added that the Congress ought to recognize they still have work to do to address America’s infrastructure requirements.
Congress passed a $305 billion bill dedicated to building highways and other transportation projects over the next five years to be funded by gas tax revenues, The Hill reported on Friday.
