WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — There has not yet been a response to US offers to assist in the investigation of the A321 Russian commercial jet crash in Egypt, US State Department spokesman John Kirby said in a press conference on Friday.
“I know that we have offered assistance to investigators. I’m not aware that there’s been any acceptance of US help,” Kirby stated.
On Saturday, an Airbus A321 crashed in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula killing all 224 people on board in what has become the largest civil aviation disaster in Russian history. Various possible causes of the tragedy have been set out by aviation and security experts, ranging from a terrorist act to a technical glitch.
