MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The US university’s campus was placed on lockdown after the shooting that occurred around 11:00 p.m. (22:00 GMT) on October 25. Later it was lifted.

"One individual, who is a student, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries," the university said in a statement.
Earlier in the day, the NCCU’s administration urged via Twitter all those on campus to find a safe place, lock the door and remain there until further notice.
NCCU University Police Emergency. Active shooter. If safe, seek shelter away from gunfire. Active shooter. Lock your door.

The NCCU Police Department officials have been immediately dispatched to the scene and are currently investigating the situation.
The North Carolina Central University is located in the US city of Durham. Over 8,000 students attend the university, with about a third of them living on campus, according to the university’s website.
