    A US police officer shot dead an innocent bystander during an undercover operation in New York.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A US police officer shot dead an innocent bystander during an undercover operation in New York, NYPD Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said in a statement.

    The undercover officer killed Felix Kumi on Saturday as he was standing behind a suspect who had pointed a gun at the officer, the statement read, as quoted by New York Daily News.

    The sting operation concerned illegal gun sales, NYPD said.

    Following the operation, two suspects were arrested and charged on six counts of drugs and weapons charges, according to the newspaper.
