US May Send Troops to Iraq if Anti-ISIL Campaign Stalls - Army Head
MOSCOW (Sputnik), Yulia Shamporova On Tuesday, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign hit out at Republicans over their policy in Iraq, blaming it for giving rise to ISIL. Clinton’s senior policy aide Jake Sullivan said that, under former President George W. Bush, the United States invaded Iraq with too few troops, marginalized Sunnis, including military officers who later joined Islamic State, and set the withdrawal date of US troops.

"ISIL is a US Golem… There are several geopolitical advantages for existence of ISIL: [it] destabilizes Saudi Arabia and Sunnite countries which threaten the US plans; creates tensions between Sunnites and Shiites; the chaos in these regions helps some states to act for their safety or their interests," Schaffhauser said.

The ISIL is a an extremist group that took over large areas of Iraq and Syria in 2014. Since August 2014, a US-led coalition of 62 nations has been conducting air attacks against ISIL militants in both countries as part of Operation Inherent Resolve that aims to eliminate the extremist organization.
