Billionaire presidential candidate Donald Trump is leading in the long list of Republican contenders, according to a new Bloomberg Politics national poll released on Tuesday ahead of the first US presidential debate scheduled for Thursday.

Donald Trump Leads Among US Republican Presidential Candidates
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) Trump is currently leading with 21 percent support in the list of some of the 17 Republican presidential candidates, followed by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush at 10 percent, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker at 8 percent, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee at 7 percent and Senator Marco Rubio at 6 percent.

The poll comes just two days ahead of the first presidential debate set for Thursday on Fox News. The US new outlet plans to choose the top 10 Republican candidates who are rated the highest in the latest national polls.

On Monday, 14 of the 17 Republican candidates spoke at a forum ahead of the official debates.
