Hillary Clinton's numbers have dropped since the April 9 poll, Quinnipiac University Poll Assistant Director Peter Brown said.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Democratic party front-runner Hillary Clinton is lagging behind three leading Republican hopefuls in swing states of Colorado, Iowa, Virginia, according to the results of the Quinnipiac University swing state poll released on Wednesday.

“Against three Republicans, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, US Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Secretary Clinton trails in six matchups and is on the down side of too-close-to call in three," Quinnipiac University Poll Assistant Director Peter Brown said.

Clinton received negative favorability ratings in each state, 35 — 56 percent in Colorado, 33 — 56 percent in Iowa and 41 — 50 percent in Virginia, the results showed.

Brown noted that Clinton’s numbers have dropped since the April 9 Quinnipiac University poll in which she was ahead in five of the matchups.

“She has lost ground in the horserace and on key questions about her honesty and leadership," he explained.

The poll also showed that Republican candidate Donald Trump has the largest negative favorability ratings, which are almost 2-1 in each state.

In recent months, Clinton has come under fire after The New York Times published a story citing US State Department sources, claiming Clinton used a personal email address when she served as state secretary between 2009 and 2013, and did not have an official email address.

Revelations that Clinton’s charitable foundation accepted donations from foreign governments have led to the Clinton Foundation admitting it failed to declare the receipt of tens of millions of dollars in foreign funds.

On April 12, Clinton announced her bid to seek the Democratic presidential nomination, simultaneously announcing that she was stepping down from the board of the Clinton Foundation.
