NEW YORK (Sputnik) — In April 2014, Fogle’s business partner, Russell Taylor, was arrested for allegedly possessing over 500 videos with images of child pornography.
Subway added that it believes Tuesday’s raid is “related” to Taylor’s arrest.
“We are shocked about the news,” the statement read. “We are very concerned and will be monitoring the situation closely.”
According to local media, investigators from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation and Indiana State police raided the home of Subway spokesman Jared Fogle on Tuesday morning.
“State and federal investigators were serving warrants at Fogle’s Zionsville home in connection with a child pornography investigation,” FOX59 reported.
Fogle’s lawyer, Ron Eldberger said his client was cooperating with the investigation, and has not been charged with a crime.
According to the US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, 17.3 million images and videos of suspected child pornography were reviewed in 2011, a 4000 percent increase since 2007.
Subway is an American fast food restaurant franchise and is the largest single-brand restaurant chain in the world, according to the company’s website.
