The US government will release on Tuesday 55,000 pages of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s e-mails concerning the 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya, State Department spokesman John Kirby said in a daily briefing.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — State Department will release a new batch of Clinton’s e-mails concerning the 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya, in accordance with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) standards.

“We do expect to release the next tranche [of e-mails] sometime tomorrow, I’m not sure exactly when in the day that will happen,” Kirby stated on Monday. “It’s a huge tranche of emails, some 55,000 pages of e-mails that we’ve been steadily going through and examining.”

In March 2015, Hillary Clinton and her team were accused of lack of transparency after The New York Times reported she used a personal e-mail address for official business during her tenure as Secretary of State.

On May 22, 2015, the State Department released some 296 of Clinton’s e-mails, which detailed how she handled the September 2012 terrorist attacks on the US diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.

Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other US citizens were killed in the attacks, while ten others were injured.

The e-mails revealed the State Department knew Ambassador Stevens’ life was in danger 18 months before the 2012 terrorist attacks. Additionally, the e-mails showed the US government misled the American public about the details of the attacks.
