Secret Service agents evacuated the White House briefing room after a phoned-in threat.

It was the second government building evacuation in the US capital on Tuesday afternoon, after several floors of the Dirksen Senate Office building were evacuated when police received a bomb threat, according to authorities.

US Capitol Police searched the third floor of the building for the reported suspicious package, shortly before giving an all clear and lifting the evacuation.

A few hours later, a press briefing was interrupted by Secret Service agents after another reported bomb threat.

Members of the press were seen leaving the West Wing of the White House after the evacuation.

According to White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, the President and the First Family have not been evacuated from the building.
