WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — A resident of the US state of Massachusetts man was charged for his role in an plot to kill an unidentified person in Boston, the US Department of Justice said in a statement.

Boston police fatally shot another suspect involved in the plot a day earlier.

“[David] Wright is charged in a one count complaint which alleges that he conspired with now-deceased Ussamah Abdullah Rahim, 26, to obstruct a federal investigation by destroying electronic evidence on Rahim’s smartphone,” the statement read on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, a police officer and FBI agent fatally shot Rahim after he allegedly advanced towards them with a military-style knife. Rahim has already been suspected and followed by the Joint Terrorism Task Force, according to the statement.

Wright and Rahim had planned to kill and behead an unidentified individual, which according to the complaint, is “a tactic of some foreign terrorist organizations which use such killings in propaganda videos.”

However, instead of carrying out the original beheading plan, law enforcement intercepted a call between the two in which Rahim said that he would no longer follow through with the beheading, but “go after boys in blue.”

Wright supported Rahim’s plan and advised him to destroy his phone and all other evidence to prevent law enforcement “from obtaining incriminating information,” according to the statement.

The Justice Department said Wright’s detention hearing is set for June 19, 2015.
