Two owners of an Oregon bakery have been ordered by the court to pay $135,000 after citing religious beliefs for refusing to make a cake for a lesbian couple.

Judge Alan McCullough ruled in January that Aaron and Melissa Klein of Sweet Cakes By Melissa discriminated against Laurel and Rachel Bowman-Cryer. The order delivered Friday dealt with the lesbian couple’s emotional suffering.

The bakers closed there Gresham store in 2013 and now operate from home.

Both sides will be able to file exceptions after reviewing the proposal before Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian issues a final order.
