    Indianapolis police fatally shot a man, knowing he had a history of mental instability, local WTHR-TV channel said Monday.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) Police officers in Indianapolis, the capital of US state Indiana, came to the man’s home in response to a report of a suicide attempt, according to the TV channel.

    The man, reportedly in his 20s, stood on the front porch of his mother’s home, holding a rifle. When police requested he put down the weapon, the man reportedly opened fire, causing the police to respond.

    The man’s mother was not injured during the incident, according to the news outlet.
