GE Plant’s building 6 appears to be completely destroyed, according to local media sources. The incident is rated as a six-alarm fire and more than 100 firefighters are currently at the scene.

MOSCOW, April 3 (Sputnik) — Emergency crews in Louisville, Kentucky are currently trying to extinguish a massive fire at a General Electric’s (GE) Appliance Park, ABC 7 reported Friday citing the local fire department.

According to the local media, Chief Kevin Tyler of the Harrods Creek Fire Department said that the incident is rated as a six-alarm fire and more than 100 firefighters are currently at the scene.

According to Tyler, GE Plant’s building 6 appears to be completely destroyed. However all GE employees were evacuated safely and sustained no injuries. There have also been no firefighter injuries reported so far.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

GE Appliance Park in Louisville comprises at least 15 buildings and employs some 6,000 people.
