US fast food workers will go on strike on April 15. Protesters will demand minimum wage increase to $15 per hour.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Fast food workers in the United States will go on strike on April 15 to protest those underpaid workers who are not making enough money to pay their bills, the advocacy group Fight for $15 announced on its website.

“Millions of underpaid workers can’t support their families or make ends meet on hourly wages that haven’t kept pace with the bills — or their employers’ profits,” Fight for $15 said on Tuesday.

The advocacy group is organizing the protest in the hope workers’ minimum wage will increase to $15 per hour, according to the group’s announcement.

“On April 15, fast food cashiers and cooks, retail employees, child care workers, home care providers, airport workers, and all of us who believe they deserve better are showing up in cities across the country to say ENOUGH,” the group stated.

According to the website, the protests began in November 2012 with 200 workers in New York City, and by 2014, went global with strikes across 33 countries and 6 continents.
