A Maryland police officer held a gun to a man’s head and threatened to shoot him despite no crime being committed. The officer has now been indicted on assault charges neary a year after the incident.

Officer Jenchesky Santiago was on patrol last May when he came across two men at a house and told them they were parked illegally. However, it turned out they weren’t. The driver told Santiago he was merely dropping off his cousin.

Santiago ordered the cousin to return to the car but he didn’t follow the instruction. Santiago then blocked both him from entering the home, withdrew his weapon and pointed at the his mouth and pushed him back toward the car.

He ordered the driver out of the car and searched both of them. The cousin’s wife eventually came outside and confirmed he lived there. However, Santiago wasn’t interested in that fact.

“We’re PGPD (Prince Georges Police Department; we shoot people,” Santiago told him while aiming the gun.

Santiago was eventually suspended without pay and, now after months of investigation, has finally been indicted with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, two counts of the use of a handgun in the commission of a violent crime, and two counts of misconduct in office.
