US Senator John McCain says that reports by the head of the US Defense Intelligence Agency asserting that the United States is unable to deliver weapons to Ukraine fast enough are unrealistic.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Reports by the head of the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) asserting that the United States is unable to deliver weapons to Ukraine fast enough are unrealistic, US Senator John McCain told Sputnik.

“It’s ridiculous. You can get the weapons to them [the Ukrainians] overnight,” McCain said on Thursday. “That’s why we have cargo aircraft.”

DIA Director Vincent Stewart said earlier on Thursday that the United States cannot deliver weaponry fast enough to make a difference in the conflict on the ground.

During a Thursday US Senate Armed Services hearing, McCain accused the top military intelligence official of making statement that “defies logic.”

Stewart warned the US Senate Committee that efforts to provide lethal support could trigger a race in arming both sides of the Ukraine conflict.
