Obama to Sign Proposal on Private Companies Data Sharing to Deter Hackers
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US President Barack Obama has signed a new executive order to promote cybersecurity information sharing within the private sector companies and between the US government and the private sector.

“I am signing a new executive order to promote even more information sharing about cyber threats both within the private sector and between government and the private sector,” Obama said at White House Summit on Cybersecurity and Consumer Protection in Stanford on Friday.

The new executive order will encourage more companies and industries to set up hubs, so they can share information with one another, and the US government can share information with them more easily, Obama added.

The United States is also planning to create a new agency dedicated to cybersecurity in light of the growing number of hacking attacks and identity theft in the past year, US officials announced Tuesday.

A large number of US public and private institutions, including Sony Pictures Entertainment, JP Morgan and federal agencies, such as the State Department and Central Command were victims of cyberattacks in 2014.
