The woman, Jessica Liesmann, caught on camera, got out of her van, dragged the suspect into the street and beat him up before police arrived.
The robbery suspect, Artai Alexander, 40, had allegedly stolen a Dodge Challenger from a nearby convenience store, according to Dallas police.
Police were chasing the stolen vehicle along residential streets after receiving a report of a robbery in progress.
Liesmann reacted in fear for her son’s life, who was in the minivan at the time of impact.
"I saw him come behind me and hit me. I turned around and asked my son, 'Are you okay?' and he was like 'Yeah' — so I jumped out the car and was like, 'What the hell is wrong with you? You're in a school zone. What are you thinking?' He didn't say anything," Liesmann told NBC News.
Liesmann’s son T.J., was not harmed, but taken to the hospital as a precaution.
