Dog Saves Officer From Bomb in Philippines
MOSCOW, January 28 (Sputnik) – A puppy that was missing for five months on the streets of New York City has finally made home, the New York Daily News reports.

The whippet named Burt was rescued near a training facility on Randall’s Island by firefighter David Kelly.

“As soon as he saw his owner, the dog started wagging his tail, licking her,” the firefighter said, cited by Fox News.

Dog owner Lauren Piccolo thanked the Fire Department of New York and said that Burt is currently resting and soon will make a full recovery.

Burt, a brindle-colored puppy, went missing near his Upper Manhattan home last August, NBC News says. Piccolo tried to find her pet, putting papers with Burt’s picture on hundreds of blocks, but all her attempts were in vain.

When Piccolo almost gave up on finding her dog, a miracle happened. “It was crazy,” Piccolo said, referring to a call that came in from Kelly. According to Kelly, the dog was looking for food at night on the grounds of the training facility. For a couple of weeks, the firefighter was feeding the dog, hoping to get near the animal, but the whippet kept running away, Fox News says.

On Monday, prior to the dangerous snowstorm in New York, Kelly managed to catch Burt, setting up a trap using food. Immediately, Kelly started to look for the dog’s owner using social media and found Piccolo’s Facebook page. Soon, the happy owner and her exhausted pet were finally reunited.
