A 'survivalist', who believes a zombie apocalypse might happen one day, shot a police officer four times during a house raid in Oklahoma and likely will not face criminal charges.

MOSCOW, January 19 (Sputnik) – Dallas Horton, a homeowner who almost killed a police officer during a raid into his house, will not face any charges, New York Daily News reports.

Horton will be allowed to walk free, as the police raided the wrong house. The local police department received two calls on Thursday morning, claiming that there was a bomb inside the Sentinel Head Start School. The caller identified himself as Dallas Horton. After hearing this, the police was quick to raid Horton’s house.  Police Chief Louis Ross put a bullet-proof vest seconds before busting into Horton’s front door. That was the sole reason Ross survived after being shot three times in the chest and once in the arm, according to CBS News.

The incident has caused some debate within the United States, as Horton is white and the police officer whom he has shot is black. People wonder how the scenario would have played out, if the roles were reversed.

The authorities searched Horton’s house and found several guns. “He loved guns, camo gear, knives. Stuff like that,” said Sam Dlugonski, Sentinel’s mayor, as cited by CBS News. Horton is a 'survivalist', who believes a zombie apocalypse might happen one day, and stocks up his house with guns and ammunition, in case a crowd of zombies takes over of Oklahoma in a Hollywood-like scenario.

Horton and his wife were detained following the incident; however, the couple was then released when Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation realized the police raided the wrong house, as the bomb threat did not come from Horton’s house and it was not him who made the calls, New York Daily News says.

Ross is expected to fully recover from his injuries. “Had he not put that vest on, I would not be here at the doctor with my husband,” his wife Mary said in tears, as quoted by New York Daily News.
