US federal grand jury has indicted an Ohio bartender Michael Hoyt on charges of trying to poison House Speaker John Boehner.

MOSCOW, January 14 (Sputnik) – A bartended at an Ohio country club was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of attempting to poison House Speaker John Boehner, USA Today reports.

Michael Hoyt, a bartender at the Wetherington Country Club north of Cincinnati, called 911 in October claiming that he wanted to poison Boehner, a frequent patron of the establishment. Officers from the local police department had met with Hoyt, who told them that he was Jesus Christ and that the speaker was “mean” to him.

CNN reports that Hoyt also claimed that Boehner was the devil and personally responsible for the Ebola outbreak. The bartender hoped that by making his threats public, Boehner would be forced to apologize and to discuss the Ebola issue.

Hoyt was voluntarily taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for a psych evaluation, USA Today notes.

According to NBC News, Hoyt was indicted on January 7 by a federal grand jury. The office of the House Speaker has officially thanked the authorities for their actions. "Speaker Boehner is aware of this situation, and sincerely thanks the FBI, the Capitol Police, and local authorities in Ohio for their efforts," Boehner’s spokesperson said, NBC News adds.
