MOSCOW, January 3 (Sputnik) – A US citizen killed his wife and two adult children in his home in Northern Carolina due to family problems, as reported by ABC News.
The incident took place on New Year’s Day in Modesto, California, a city located about 70 miles southeast of Sacramento. 57-year-old Stephen Mingham shot his wife, daughter and son and then killed himself, the police said.
On December 31, police officers received a 911 call from a man who said he had murdered his family. By arrival to his home, the police found dead bodies of the perpetrator, his wife and his son. The man’s daughter was still alive, but suffered severe injuries. She died in a hospital after a surgical procedure.
The killer’s brother, Joe, said Mingham’s family had been in a bad situation for several months. His daughter suffered a brain injury and Mingham had to care for her full time. Moreover, his family is said to have suffered financial problems as well.
Stephen Mingham called his brother on Thursday evening and told him he had killed his family. He also said he was going to commit suicide.
