Around 10:30 Wednesday morning, more than a dozen St. Louis protesters burst into the lobby of the city’s Metropolitan Police Department headquarters.

Protesters read a list of demands that included meeting with police and city officials, an immediate termination of employment for Officer Jason Flannery, who publicly stated a desire to “shoot Muslims,” and Officer Randy Hayes, known animal abuser, and amnesty for any protesters charged with nonviolent offenses in recent weeks.

Protesters also placed hundreds of eviction notices along the building, reading, “We are informing you that the police department is scheduled to be reclaimed by its citizens today, December 31, 2014.”

Several demonstrators were pepper sprayed and five individuals were arrested. Police reportedly unleashed tear gas on the crowd.

The march continues in downtown St. Louis.
