"They're [St. Louis police] looking over other surveillance video to see if there's anything else out there. Obviously, the investigation is going to go through everything from physical evidence to witness statements," Schellman told Sputnik.
He said that after the shooting about 200 protesters gathered in and around the Berkeley gas station area where 18-year-old Antonio Martin was shot dead on Tuesday by a 34-year-old white police officer. According to Schellman, Martin was shot after he pointed a handgun at the officer.
"The suspect had a pistol in his hand. We did what we had to do," Belmar said.
Protests that followed Martin's fatal shooting, resulted in at least four arrests. According to Schellman, officers are currently monitoring the scene for more potential protests in the area, and they will "react to them if we're needed and we'll help out and assist." However, the spokesperson added that as of Wednesday morning there were only a few protesters in the area.
In November, a grand jury chose not to charge Wilson with the fatal shooting, which resulted in massive nationwide protests calling for an end to racially motivated police brutality in the United States.
