MOSCOW, December 9 (Sputnik) — On Monday, St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch released several documents regarding the fatal shooting of an unarmed African-American teenager Michael Brown, including a federal autopsy, the Associated Press reports.

The postmortem was conducted by the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System at the request of the US Department of Justice. Its findings echo the results of previous autopsies, performed by local officials and a private examiner, hired by Brown’s family. Michael Brown was fatally shot by a white police officer, Darren Wilson, on August 9 in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri.

The federal autopsy determined that multiple gunshot wounds were the cause of Michael Brown’s death. Wilson is estimated to have made six shots, according to BBC. The teenager sustained "severe injuries of the skull, brain and right chest," NBC News reports. "The manner of death is homicide," the federal autopsy report stated.

The federal autopsy also confirmed that a close-range discharge of a firearm took place. Earlier, Wilson had told the grand jury that the African-American grabbed his gun while the officer was inside the police car. They struggled resulting in Wilson discharging the weapon. Brown’s blood was found on the firearm, as well as on Wilson’s uniform and inside the vehicle, the International Business Times said.

St. Louis County Prosecutor’s office also released transcripts of interviews conducted with witnesses of the fatal shooting, as well as police radio transmissions prior and after the shooting and an audio of what allegedly is a sound of shots fired by Wilson.

In November, the grand jury decided not to bring charges against Wilson. The controversial decision led to a wave of nationwide protests against police brutality and unfair sentencing. Wilson resigned from the force late last month.
