Over 250 firefighters are currently attempting to extinguish the blaze at a tall residential building with commercial space on its lower levels, the LA Fire Department’s spokesman told the newspaper. The building contained a total of 1.3 million square feet of floor space, with two thirds of it consumed by flames. The fire was mostly dealt with in 90 minutes, but firefighters still had to deal with hot spots afterwards, LAFD chief also said, according to the Los Angeles Times.
He also added that the cause of the fire and its extent are unknown at the moment.
