The presidential race in the US is becoming more tense with each passing hour, as ballot counting continues in Georgia, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina - four states that account for a total of 57 electoral votes.

"America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me," Biden wrote on Twitter.

Earlier in the day, the CNN, Fox News and NBC broadcasters and the AP news agency projected that Biden has won the presidential election.

Donald Trump in his turn stated that the US presidential election is not over despite several media outlets projecting Democratic nominee Joe Biden as the winner.

This year, tens of millions of Americans cast their votes via mail due to the coronavirus pandemic. Addressing the issue, President Donald Trump has repeatedly called into question the trustworthiness of mail-in ballots. On Wednesday, his campaign filed lawsuits in Michigan, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, citing alleged electoral violations.

Palestine's Abbas to Ask Biden to Move US Embassy Back to Tel Aviv From Jerusalem - Report

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will ask Joe Biden, who was declared winner in the US presidential election by major media, to return the US embassy in Israel from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv, Israel Hayom newspaper reported on Sunday, citing a senior member of Abbas' staff.

Biden has previously said that if elected, he would not reverse the decision of incumbent Republican President Donald Trump on the relocation of the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and recognition of the latter as the capital of Israel but would also open a US consulate in East Jerusalem.

According to the newspaper, Abbas intends to ask Biden to revoke the US' recognition of Jerusalem's status and move the embassy back to Tel Aviv, despite the politician's previous statements on the issue.

In addition, the Palestinian Authority has sent messages to Biden informing him of the country's willingness to resume US-brokered peace talks with Israel from the point at which they were suspended in 2016, the newspaper added.

Earlier in the day, Abbas congratulated Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris on their victory and expressed hope for working with the new administration to strengthen the Palestinian-US relations and achieve freedom, independence, justice and dignity for the Palestinian people.

Since Washington announces the decision to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in 2018, the Palestinian leadership de facto has not had high-level contacts with the Trump administration. The Palestinian Authority has also been also extremely skeptical about Trump's peace initiatives, considering him biased in favor of Israel.

Bolivia Expects Relations With US to Improve After Biden's Victory in Election

Bolivia expects its relations with the United States to improve following Democrat Joe Biden's victory in the US presidential election, the Latin American country's Socialist president-elect, Luis Arce, said on Sunday.

Though official results of the 2020 US presidential election have not been announced yet, as the vote counting continues, all major US media have already called the presidential race for Biden, with the presidential candidate claiming victory on Saturday.

"The US people participated in the democratic election, which resulted in the victory of President Joe Biden and the first female vice president, Kamala Harris. With the new administration, we predict better relations that will lead to the well-being of our peoples," Arce wrote on Twitter.

Relations between Bolivia and the US have been strained for years. In September 2008, then-Bolivian President Evo Morales expelled US Ambassador Philip Goldberg for allegedly promoting separatist movements in the country. In response, the United States expelled the Bolivian ambassador and called the allegations against Goldberg groundless.

The situation changed when Bolivia's interim government — supported by Washington — took office after Morales stepped down from his fourth term in office last November and fled to Mexico amid mass protests over his contentious election victory earlier in 2019. Shortly after, the interim government appointed Walter Oscar Serrate Cuellar as the country's first ambassador to the United States in 11 years.

Reported Fraud in US Elections to Weaken Biden's Authority as President - Ex-Senator

The reported fraud in the latest US presidential election is bound to reduce the power of Joe Biden’s authority, Former Virginia State Senator Richard Black told Sputnik.

"I think it is so widespread that even if Biden is eventually elected by the Electoral College, I think it's going to weaken his [Biden’s] authority as president," Black said. "I have a feeling that he will be perceived as someone who did not actually win the election, it was just an election that was kind of rigged. So I think that's going to be a bit of a problem for him going forward if he is sworn in as president."

Black’s comments come after major US television networks projected that Democratic nominee Joe Biden has won the US presidential election. Biden claimed his victory in an address to the nation on Saturday in Wilmington, Delaware.

"The news media, the major broadcast networks have coordinated their efforts and they have all come out with a declaration that Joe Biden is the winner of the presidential campaign," Black said. "But the Constitution does not have a role for the news media in selecting the president that is all decided of the Electoral College."

The former lawmaker pointed out that at this point, no state has certified the election, adding that it certainly does help Biden that the national news media has projected him a winner.

"I think to some extent they felt a sense of pressure," he noted. "The news media, they clearly wanted Biden to win. And there is so much discussion about the transparent voter fraud all over the country, that I think they felt that they had to move quickly before we go before the opponents began to gather steam. So, where we are right now, the news media has declared Biden the president. And we will we will just have to see in the coming weeks where that all leads."

Russia Ready to Work for Bilateral Normalization With Any US President - Senior Lawmaker

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russia is open to working with any president of the United States as the normalization of bilateral relations remains a priority for Moscow, Leonid Slutsky, the head of the Russian lower house's International Affairs Committee, said.

Slutsky believes that Russia-US relations are unlikely to change dramatically for the better with the change of the US president, given that Joe Biden, the Democrat candidate who claimed having won the vote on Saturday, has earlier described Russia as the US' key adversary.

"But Russia — and this has been declared at the highest level — is ready to work with any US president. The normalization of the bilateral relations is still one of the priorities, including for the parliament. We will analyze all aspects and opportunities of the Russian-US dialogue at a round table of the State Duma [lower house] at the end of November," the lawmaker told journalists.

Slutsky said that he meant not a new "restart" of relations, but rather a search for constructive cooperation, primarily in such spheres as global health care, strategic stability, arms control, cyber security and peaceful space.

Giuliani Says Lawsuits Over Alleged Voter Fraud in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh Upcoming

US President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani told reporters on Saturday that the campaign would file lawsuits over alleged voter fraud in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, with up to 90 witnesses ready to testify.

Multiple news outlets have called the state of Pennsylvania for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden after he made significant gains in the state’s two largest cities, erasing an early 800,000 vote advantage for Trump. Biden’s projected victory in Pennsylvania was enough for US media to call the presidential election for Biden.

"Standing behind me are called witnesses. They will eventually, soon hopefully, appear in court and give this testimony because we are going to file a federal lawsuit that will cover [Philadelphia] and Pittsburgh," Giuliani said during a press briefing, in which he called some 300,000 ballots into question in two of Pennsylvania’s largest cities.

Giuliani said that the Trump campaign stands ready to call on as many witnesses as needed by federal judges, adding that as many as 90 as witnesses are ready to testify.
