Citizens of Bristol gathered for a protest action last week against expanding police powers. The demonstrations turned violent as the protesters sprayed paint and threw objects at law enforcement officers. They also set fire to police vehicles and broke the windows of a police station.

Sputnik comes live from Bristol, United Kingdom where demostrators have gathered to voice their opposition to the proposed Police, Crime, Sentencing, and Courts Bill.

The bill has been met with a barrage of criticism across the UK as it could extend the powers of the police when it comes to demonstrations. It could grant law enforcement officers with the right to set when demonstrations should start and finish. The bill could also bring in prison sentences of up to 10 years for people who vandalise memorials.
