As of Wednesday morning, the UK has confirmed over 2.7 million COVID-19 cases with more than 76,000 deaths related to the disease, according to data collected by the Johns Hopkins University.

Watch a live broadcast from the House of Commons in London as UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson delivers a statement on increasing coronavirus restrictions in England.

Earlier this week, the PM announced a new lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19 amid an outbreak of a new, more contagious strain of the virus. All schools and colleges have been ordered to shut until at least mid-February.

According to the Johns Hopkins University, the UK has so far registered 2,782,709 cases of coronavirus with 76,428 COVID-related fatalities.
