London and Brussels agreed upon the divorce on 17 October and signed the historic accord in January, making Great Britain the first country to leave the EU.

The United Kingdom enters a new age, as the country left the European Union on Friday after 3.5 years of negotiations.

During a 11-month transition period, the UK will remain part of EU trade deals but will be able to negotiate new trade deals and settle security issues with Brussels.
