The victory marks the second time the Japanese tennis player has won the Australian Open. Her first triumph at the Grand Slam event came in 2019.

Japanese professional tennis player Naomi Osaka has defeated her US rival Jennifer Brady in the Australian Open final. The face-off at the Rod Laver Arena saw Osaka win 6-4, 6-3 in 77 minutes.

Osaka is currently number 3 in the Women's Tennis Association rankings after securing six titles. The 23-year-old won the 2019 Australian Open and the US Open in 2018 and 2020. Brady, 25, is ranked 24 in the WTA.

The 2021 Australian Open in Melbourne kicked off on 8 February and is expected to conclude on Sunday.
