Daniele De Rossi’s incredible behavior, which was caught clearly on camera, earned the Italian football player a red card during his team’s game with Genoa on Sunday.

Probably succumbing to emotion, AS Roma's veteran midfielder Daniele De Rossi slapped Genoa's forward Gianluca Lapadula in the face, just seconds before he theatrically fell down, rolling on the ground during a heated Serie A match. But with the technology we have nowadays, nobody gets away with that kind of attempt to gain an unfair advantage.

In the video of the incident, captured on November 26 in the 70th minute of the game, De Rossi is seen grabbing Lapadula's shirt at a corner before slapping him across the face and then diving to feign an injury.

After consulting the video replay system, the referee sent 34-year-old De Rossi off with the 15th red card of his career and awarded Genoa a penalty. The game finished a 1-1 draw, costing Roma the chance to extend their record 12 wins away from home. De Rossi later apologized for his behavior. "It's a moment that I'm incredibly sorry about. There's not much to say: we were tussling, I tried to block him with an arm — the footage is ugly," he said.
