MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The US team won with a score of 4 to 3 on Wednesday, defeating Russia in the shootout.

This was the first time that the United States beat Russia in the knockout round at the world junior hockey championship.

The US team will compete against Canada in the final game on Thursday in Montreal.

Canada won the Wednesday semifinal game against Sweden with a score of 5 to 2.
