The Russian president called for more transparency in sports and said sports must be free of doping.

KOVROV (Russia), (Sputnik) – The fight against doping in international sports must be carried out with the use of clear rules and must be absolutely transparent, the methods used and athletes tested must be known, as well as the outcomes of such tests, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday.

"Sports, of course, must be free of doping. However, of course, we must be sure what is being done and how in this extremely important sphere. We must know everything, who is being tested, how [they] are being tested, when and using which funds, what the results of these tests are and what is being done according to these results," Putin said at an international sports forum.
