    Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday congratulated gymnast Aliya Mustafina on winning gold at the Olympic Games in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro.

    MOSCOW (Sputnik) On Sunday, Mustafina won her second Olympic gold medal in the final of the uneven bars with a score of 15.9.

    "I congratulate you on your brilliant victory in Rio de Janeiro. At the XXXI Olympic Games you won awards of all merits, made a major contribution to our national team's medal count, showed excellent skills and a great will power," Putin's congratulatory telegram reads.

    The Summer Olympic Games are being held in Rio de Janeiro from August 5 until August 21. The Russian team is currently in fourth overall in terms of medal count, with a total of nine gold and 30 medals overall.
